History of Green Bay's Parks

Arnie Wolff Memorial Soccer Complex

This property was the former Schuster Pit and the City owned it as landfill. In 2004, the Park Committee went on record as supporting the Schuster Pit landfill site as a future soccer complex and directed staff to proceed with bringing in fill from DPW construction projects and begin grading. The Council approved the Park Committee’s request to designate this as parkland on the official city map on June 21, 2005. Named in honor of a City of Green Bay Fireman who died in the line of duty and dedicated November 11, 2006. The name was formally approved by the Park Committee on November 28, 2006 and Council on December 5, 2006.

The Bay Area Soccer Association for Youth asked to name a field for John Jende, who basically started the youth soccer program in this area, which was approved by the Council on May 6, 2008.
